Stanford's Glass Service Inc began right after World War II when Ray Stanford Sr. established his glass business in a small 2-car garage in the Oklahoma Borough section of Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. Their original business provided automobile glass replacement. They quickly realized their shop was too small and that there were many other glass applications people needed, so they built a larger shop and office just around the corner.
Ray Stanford Jr. returned from military duty in 1964 and joined his father in the business. He is still part of Stanford's Glass Service Inc today. His son, Karl, joined in 1981 and is heavily involved with day-to-day operations.
As the business grew with the boom in housing and automobile ownership, our current location and shop was constructed next to the second location in 1976. Just 5 years later, they had to add onto that location to accommodate other services including mirrors, tabletops, car stereos, and auto air-conditioning.
